Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so our team can answer it. We do not disclose the message beyond our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring site, when one exists
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure traffic patterns, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers help combine that usage data. You can block cookies through browser controls, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search query to the selected partner
- Operating the site and maintaining its speed
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Understanding which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains how to reach the Montague County Sheriff, local courts, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry for official information. Government access and disclosure are governed separately, including the Texas Public Information Act in Government Code Chapter 552 and criminal-history dissemination rules in Government Code Chapter 411. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the site's search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention choices, and disclosure practices govern information entered into its tool. We do not control those practices, so review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Montague County offices, Texas agencies, court portals, legal-aid resources, or outside tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal data.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select ads. That process occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and site performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving ads on site pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Privacy rights vary by residence and remain subject to applicable law and its exceptions. Depending on the law that applies, you may:
- Request deletion of covered data
- Ask to access covered data maintained about you
- Request correction of inaccurate covered information
- Opt out of covered forms of data processing when the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. An updated version will appear here with a new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
